About Crown Preschool Coronado

Crown Preschool fulfills the original vision for Coronado Unified School District (CUSD) to provide a complete education continuum as a lifelong foundation for our community’s children. The curriculum integrates with existing CUSD curricula and combines it with learning designed to enhance cognitive development and establish the basic building blocks for a successful education for 21st century learners.

The school serves both full-time and part-time preschool students. Our classroom teachers, Brenna Belknap and Lindsay Kennedy, are multiple-subject credentialed teachers.  Crown Preschool also employs part-time preschool teacher assistants.  All of the staff have preschool child development permits issued through the State of California.  Preschool teacher assistants also teach in our extended day program.  Crown Preschool’s primary focus is to prepare children for kindergarten and eventually graduation from Coronado High School. We are happy to provide families in the community the option of a quality early education setting in our own neighborhood.

Crown Preschool's Teachers

Brenna Belknap graduated from Northwest Missouri State University with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education and an Early Childhood Education minor.  Following graduation, Brenna worked at the Odessa R-7 school district in Odessa, Missouri, as a substitute teacher.  To pursue her passion for early childhood education, she accepted a position at the Sunshine Center in Independence, Missouri.  Brenna worked at this child development center for one year before getting married to her husband.  His military career brought them to San Diego.

Brenna's next position was working at the Patrick Wade Child Development Center in Point Loma as a preschool teacher.  She enjoyed the chance to prepare her classroom and implement the curriculum through integrated lesson plans.  In the fall of 2012, Brenna became a substitute teacher with the Coronado Unified School District.  Through this experience, she had the chance to work with students in kindergarten up to fifth grade.  While she has valued the opportunity of working with all of the different age groups, the younger students have always been her favorite!  She loves having the opportunity to teach the students at Crown Preschool and getting all the children ready for kindergarten.

Brenna enjoys baking, reading, and going to the beach with her husband and her dog.

Lindsay Kennedy was born and raised in Southern California.  She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education from Arizona State University with a certificate in Structured English Immersion.  Lindsay also obtained a Multiple Subject Credential and holds a Site Supervisor Child Development Permit from the State of California.  After graduation, Lindsay worked as an Instructional Assistant in a Transitional Kindergarten classroom at Brookside Elementary School in Oak Park, California.

Prior to her arrival at Crown Preschool, Lindsay was a junior kindergarten teacher at The Kids Bay Learning Center in San Diego.  Lindsay also volunteers at Rady Children's Hospital as a patient care provider.  She enjoys traveling, baking, and photography in her spare time.
